This 2018 winner of the Mid-Rise Building Award of Distinction from the Ontario Home Builders Association was part of a 160,000 sq. ft. mixed-use development that consisted of multiple phases. This initial phase of the project consisted of the adaptive re-use of a school building originally built in the 1930s into nine custom loft apartments.
While the school does not have a heritage designation, its elegant brick and stone façade was decided to be an asset to the development, with the historic character of the building being preserved even as its use and functional layout were modernized. The completed project features nine upscale lofts spread across the three building floors, as well as three private terraces on the roof level and one large common terrace.
Morley Hoppner acted as both Construction Manager and developer for this unique project, which also received multiple other design awards, including Design Excellence Awards in both the Low to Mid-Rise and Mid to High-Rise building categories in 2017 from the Greater Ottawa Home Builders' Association.
