Morley Hoppner completed the development of a property in Ottawa’s Westboro Village along with Bourk Family Developments and Barry Hobin Architects in 2012. The project was conceived in early 2006, and Morley Hoppner guided the three-phase project through the full development process, site plan approval, financing, design, construction, and the Tarion Warranty process.
Westboro Station Phase I is a 133,000-square-foot condominium, consisting of 10 storeys above grade and two below. The building features 64 condo units, common areas, and parking and retail spaces, as well as live-work loft units featuring retail on the ground level and a second-floor living unit. The exterior of the building features a striking design with bands of brick, stone, and glass.
Phases 2 and 3 of this project include more than 100 condominiums located in two distinct mid-rise residential towers that sit atop a podium of retail shops along Richmond Road. This street-level podium enables large terrace areas for residents on the third floor of the condominium towers, which are elegantly massed and set back from the street. In total, the three completed project phases combined to include approx. 398,000 sq. ft. of space.
The project was both the 2010 Design Winner for High Rise Condominiums from the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association, as well as an Ontario Masonry Design Award winner for Residential High Rise.
