Completed alongside Hobin Architecture as our Design-Build partner, Morley Hoppner led the construction of the new 12,160 sq. ft. Fire Station No. 45 on behalf of the City of Ottawa. This state-of-the-art emergency services facility represents the latest in modern fire station design and construction.
Working closely with the City throughout the design and construction process, our design-build team leveraged experience from previous fire station projects to develop a functional design for this rural site. Housing both full-time and volunteer firefighters, the station features an apparatus bay for trucks (with three large bay entries), platoon rooms, a fitness area, a bunker gear room, and a watch room. Built with both sustainability and public safety in mind, it’s now the largest fire station serving the area.
With an emphasis on energy efficiency and durability, the goal was to ensure this facility was built to last—providing critical emergency services to the growing Kanata North community. The project ultimately achieved LEED® Silver certification, with optimized energy performance, enhanced indoor environmental quality, reduced water consumption, and design innovations all contributing to its sustainability features.
